Training

Sara and I did our first workout last week in preparation for our big ride.
Woooah!
No wonder she looks like she does.
"I know..." Sara said, "We'll ride 1 hour on the bike trainer, but every ten minutes we will do a 30 second all out interval, then get off the bike and do 20 or 30 jump squats".
She showed me what a jump squat was. I tried one. I got a full one inch off the ground. Things fell off the T.V. Sara looked at me and said " maybe five jump squats".
"First, though we will do a ball work out to strengthen our core". We go to her living room and she whips her feet onto the ball and with her shoulders pressed against the floor she made a rigid "bridge", floor to ball. I throw my feet up on the ball, bring my hips up in the air and immediately the ball starts wobbling; wildly.
I throw my arms out in an attempt to stabilize; my feet swing as the ball keeps moving in a wide arc and then wider arcs. The ball goes flying and my feet slam to the floor. I look at Sara. She has not changed position, she is still rigidly holding her "bridge". She's staring at me; her mouth pursed and pushed to the side.
"I'll get it" I say but I really mean I will just get the ball... and I do.

    1. Thanks Cindy... can you believe I am 50!
Now I know what my Dad meant when he would say he thinks of himself as a 20 year old. I always wondered how he could mistake himself as that... I mean the guy was .... 50! WOW huh... here we are.

  9. OMG!! I laughed so hard when I read this. I needed to be there and put that on film, I could have turned that into America's Funniest Videos and won us $10,000.00. Then I could buy you a better bike that would have a seat that would massage your butt every 10 miles, a hose for a spritzer and a fan on the front to blow in your face and keep you awake. Tina
