Thanks Cheyenne for the song list. I love some of those.
For those just getting on the blog Sara and I have asked that you be an integral part of our trip.
( Go to first blog entry)
We need your song lists! We need your memories. ( I don't know about you guys but I lost mine somewhere along the line.)
We need your songs and your memories to spur us on in the rain, snow, sleet and sun. When we are sitting on the side of the trail, tears streaming down our face, smell wafting from our jerseys and blood oozing from our blisters we'll need something else to think about. We can think about you! We'll get our IPods out and scroll down your song list. We'll pick a song and remember your corresponding embarrassing moment, first kiss, last kiss, first born, last born, first car, first job, first house, last remodel.....
we'll remember anything ... anything...but ourselves.

Training
Sara and I did our first workout last week in preparation for our big ride.
Woooah!
No wonder she looks like she does.
"I know..." Sara said, "We'll ride 1 hour on the bike trainer, but every ten minutes we will do a 30 second all out interval, then get off the bike and do 20 or 30 jump squats".
She showed me what a jump squat was. I tried one. I got a full one inch off the ground. Things fell off the T.V. Sara looked at me and said " maybe five jump squats".
"First, though we will do a ball work out to strengthen our core". We go to her living room and she whips her feet onto the ball and with her shoulders pressed against the floor she made a rigid "bridge", floor to ball. I throw my feet up on the ball, bring my hips up in the air and immediately the ball starts wobbling; wildly.
I throw my arms out in an attempt to stabilize; my feet swing as the ball keeps moving in a wide arc and then wider arcs. The ball goes flying and my feet slam to the floor. I look at Sara. She has not changed position, she is still rigidly holding her "bridge". She's staring at me; her mouth pursed and pushed to the side.
"I'll get it" I say but I really mean I will just get the ball... and I do.
